Society Of Estate And Trust Practitioners (STEP)
Daphne Frost Is A STEP Member
If you have to deal with a probate for the first time it can be a daunting experience, particularly when coupled with the emotions in dealing with the passing of a loved one.
Daphne Frost is our in-house probate expert and recently, after some years of study, has gained full membership of STEP – the Society For Trust & Estate Practitioners. We thought you might like to find out more about STEP, what STEP membership means for you, the firm as a whole and for Daphne.
STEP describes itself as the professional body for the trust and estates profession worldwide. Daphne has recently been upgraded to full membership as a Trusts and Estates Practitioner which allows her to add the initials ‘TEP’ after her name.
The STEP website describes members able to use these initials in the following way:
STEP Members are experts in:
- estates and succession;
- domestic and offshore trusts;
- trust and estate litigation; and
- tax planning
To gain the qualification Daphne had to sit four exams and prove her expertise in the area of trusts and estate planning. Daphne says of the qualification:
"I am delighted to have gained full STEP membership. I have always been acutely aware that I often help families at a time of great sadness and have always strived to provide an empathetic and efficient service. I think the STEP membership will give my clients even more confidence in my ability to help them and believe it has been thoroughly worth the last few years of hard study and exams."
The qualification ensures that Daphne can help families in a number of ways including:
- Ensuring adequate provision is made for a husband or wife after a death at the same time as ensuring the interests of the children of the family are protected
- Helping families to comply with tax rules including inheritance tax and trusts and estates taxes
- Ensuring that family businesses can remain just that, and be safely passed down through the family
- Ensuring that care and support is provided for elderley or vulnerable relatives
If you have any questions about Trusts, Estates, Taxes or Probate you can contact Daphne on 01737 761004.
